Samantha Harkins is a colleague of mine at the Michigan Municipal League. In addition to being an award winning advocate on behalf of cities and villages, she is also an enthusiastic runner and ‘city-o-phile’.
Sam was so enthused about the blog entry featuring Helen Davis Johnson’s views on placemaking that she decided to tackle the questions posed to Helen on her own. You can read her unique views on placemaking from a runner’s perspective at her great new blog, I Run These Towns. Here is a sample of what you’ll find
“The running community has a unique interest in place. When you’re running, you want a safe, accessible route. You want a place where you can grab a cup off coffee after a run. You want a place that attracts other runners. It’s all about walkability, one of the key aspects of placemaking.
