The Prosperity Agenda: New League Book Tells Placemaking Success Stories

prosperity-agenda-thumbWe’re so excited about the League’s new book coming out that we’ve dedicated our next two radio shows all about it.  On this month’s Prosperity Agenda radio show we talk about just some of the projects included in a new book, “The Economics of Place: The Art of Building Great Communities”. The book will soon be available at and explores great placemaking examples taking place throughout the state. My co-host is John Notarianni, Director of Media Strategies for the Michigan-based Issue Media Group, and our guests are Gary Heidel, the Chief Placemaking Officer for the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA); Mona Lang, Executive Director of the Marquette Downtown Development Authority; and Tom Woiwode, Executive Director of the GreenWays Initiative for the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan. The Michigan Prosperity Agenda is a monthly radio show that challenges listeners to help make Michigan a better place to live, work and play by creating vibrant and prosperous local communities. It has aired on News/Talk 760 WJR since 2010. The show airs 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, on News/Talk 760 WJR, but you can listen anytime at the League’s website or by subscribing to the FREE iTunes podcast. Learn more about the placemaking concept here as well as on this blog.
